I sell waterfront real estate. I spend a lot of time on the lakes.
But I also spend a lot of time at a good steakhouse.
These are a few I keep going back to. Not because they’re trendy. Not because they’re loud on social media. Because they’re consistently good.
Baldamar – Roseville
Baldamar is probably my go-to in the north metro.
It’s bold. Modern. Big energy without feeling chaotic. The steaks are consistent. The bar scene is strong. You can walk in on a weeknight or take clients on a Friday and it works either way.
It’s minutes from Lake Owasso and not far from White Bear Lake. If you live in the northern suburbs and want a reliable, high-level dinner, this is hard to beat.
Aqua – White Bear Lake
Aqua is different.
It’s refined and sits right on White Bear Lake. In the summer, sitting outside with the water right there changes the entire experience.
It feels connected to the lake lifestyle. You can have dinner and then walk downtown White Bear. It’s not just about the steak. It’s the setting.
If you live on White Bear Lake, this one just makes sense.
Porterhouse – Little Canada
Porterhouse has more of a traditional steakhouse feel. Darker interior. Classic cuts. Straightforward menu.
It’s steady. It’s familiar. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t try too hard and doesn’t need to.
If you want a no-surprises steak dinner in the north metro, it delivers.
6Smith – Wayzata
If you’re anywhere near Lake Minnetonka, 6Smith is always in the conversation.
It sits right on Wayzata Bay. You’re watching boats come in while you’re eating. Sunset dinners here hit differently.
It’s upscale but still comfortable. The view alone makes it worth it.
Murray’s – Downtown Minneapolis
If you want old-school Twin Cities steakhouse, Murray’s is still the standard.
White tablecloth. History. The Silver Butter Knife Steak.
It’s downtown Minneapolis, and it feels like a place that’s earned its reputation over decades, not years.
Why Write About Steakhouses?
Because lifestyle matters.
People who live on lakes care about where they eat. They care about environment. They care about experience.
The northern suburbs of the Twin Cities have matured. The dining scene reflects that. You don’t have to drive downtown for a high-level dinner anymore.
Waterfront communities are supported by strong local businesses. That’s part of what makes them stable long term.
But at the end of the day, this isn’t a market report.
It’s just a few places I like.
If you’re on the lakes, you probably already have your own list.
Preparation creates leverage.
Relationships outlast transactions.
